Apply for the 2023 Mid-Career Transition to Teaching Program
and share your skills, passion, knowledge and expertise while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students in NSW public schools.

If you possess significant industry or teaching experience in mathematics, science or technological and applied studies, you may be eligible to complete a Master of Teaching (Secondary) or a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and enter a career in secondary teaching.

Successful Mid-Career Transition to Teaching Program participants will receive:

  • $30,000 one-off training allowance;
  • $30,000 study completion bonus;
  • permanent teaching position upon graduation;
  • the opportunity to be employed as a paraprofessional while completing studies; and
  • ongoing mentoring and support.

This pathway may be right for you if:

  • you are an academic or industry professional with at least 3 years industry experience in the last 10 years; and
  • you have completed a recognised undergraduate Bachelor degree.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary) entry – for future technological and applied studies teachers

This pathway may be right for you if:

  • you are an experienced industry professional or tradesperson with industry experience; and
  • you have completed a trade apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
