Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure company, EVX is continuing to deliver vital kerbside charging to Australia, launching 17 new chargers across Sydney. The new chargers are in inner-city residential areas where street parking is often the norm for households compared to parking at home. The new sites add to EVX’s growing kerbside charger locations across the city and state.
EVX CEO, Andrew Forster, said: “We know that 30% of drivers in NSW do not have access to at-home charging to charge an EV, this number is higher in higher-density inner-city areas. This lack of access to charging may be impacting the adoption rate of EVs in our cities, so this is a positive step forward as we bring more convenient kerbside charging to Sydneysiders.”
“These sites represent 34 new charge points, just in time for the holiday season. We thank Inner West Council for working with us to get these chargers out to residents and are excited to continue growing our network into the new year.”
The Australian-designed and made pole-mounted EV chargers were developed by EVX from the ground up to meet the technological limitations utility providers and local governments face in rolling out EV charging infrastructure sustainably while adhering to local electrical and planning regulations.
By using AC power with smart charging capability, EVX chargers have a low impact on the local electricity grid while being installed on the existing utility pole infrastructure, negating the need for disruptive civil works and ensuring a speedy rollout. This cutting-edge technology makes it easy for people to charge their vehicles using 100 per cent green energy.
The new chargers have been supported by the NSW government’s ‘Electric vehicle kerbside charging grants’ scheme, which will see over $4 million of investment in the state’s EV charging infrastructure needs.
